Gift of Life at Kentwood High School - Tuesday, May 31

The Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority will be presenting the Gift of Life program to the juniors and seniors of Kentwood High School.  This is a community program that demonstrates to students the consequences of drinking and driving.  The goal of the program is to save lives, reduce injuries, and ultimately lower the chance of teens choosing to drink and drive or ride with someone who has been drinking.

The Kent Fire Department RFA, in cooperation with a variety of agencies, hosts a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) crash simulation for area high schools. Student actors and emergency response agencies (fire, police, medics, ambulance company, etc.) create an impaired caused car crash that is choreographed to resemble what actually takes place at a major incident.  Following the simulated crash, a panel discussion of guests speaks to the students to discuss what was seen.  It is a very powerful exercise that we hope will encourage students to choose not to drink and drive - especially as we move toward the season of proms and graduation.

Parents and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend the Gift of Life.  The program will begin at approximately 12:30 PM in the senior parking lot of Kentwood High School. Please call 253-856-4415 for questions on the program.
